Naturral Resources PD: Sustainable Schools: Tackling Food Waste

September 25

September 25, 2026
Oregon City, OR

This interactive workshop examines the link between food waste and climate change through hands-on activities, expert demonstrations and group discussions, highlighting how waste reduction can conserve resources, cut greenhouse gas emissions, save money and improve food security. Participants will explore Oregon-specific policies, school initiatives and best practices while gaining classroom-ready resources and strategies to engage students in food waste reduction projects. School staff involved in food services and operations will learn about sustainable practices — such as reusable serviceware, share tables, food recovery programs and waste-reducing equipment — as well as funding opportunities. School teams will also have dedicated time to collaborate and create actionable plans to reduce food waste within their communities.
