Through site visits\, hands-on experiences\, and conversations with industry professionals\, educators strengthen their understanding of career pathways and develop meaningful connections that can be brought back to the classroom. This experience helps bridge the gap between education and industry\, allowing educators to better prepare students for college\, careers\, apprenticeships\, and the workforce.

SUMMARY:Shop Training at Sandy HS 8am - 5pm
DESCRIPTION:This 4-day seminar on manufacturing machinery and class safety will take place at Sandy High School\, July 27th- July 30th. Participants will receive an in-depth overview of the day-to-day function and safety of a manufacturing shop\, as well as surprise tools. Instructor Craig Anderson will equip you with the tools to bring your projects and curriculum to life. \n  \nOverview \nThis week-long session will provide you with the confidence to operate manufacturing shop machinery while maintaining a safe environment for all staff and students. Designed for introductory and intermediate manufacturing teachers. This course will provide you with the confidence to utilize machinery\, hand tools\, sawing\, milling\, sheet metal fabrication\, geometric dimensioning\, drawings\, and much more! The goal is to give you the knowledge\, experience\, and lessons you can implement in your shops immediately. \n \nExpectations \nCome prepared for hands-on learning. Dress ready to work and perform the tasks; this includes long pants\, closed-toed shoes\, and no loose clothing or sleeves. Bring projects and drawings from your current curriculum\, and notebooks to take notes along the way. A laptop is recommended\, but not required.  \n \nInstruction \nThis seminar will be led by Craig Anderson\, a Manufacturing Extraordinaire with nearly 50 years of industry experience. He will actively assist in teaching applicable skills and shop management for some current curriculum projects. He will work with you in the lab while teaching and answering questions. Guest instructors will also be present! \nThe week will be structured with safety practices for student operation in the shop. Welding instruction will start with skill development and move into applicable projects that build fabrication skills and apply welding abilities. All materials will be provided as part of the course. \n \nLogistics \nThe course will begin July 27th\, 2026 at Sandy High School. Sessions will run 8am-5pm Monday thru Thursday. Payment must be received before the course begins. Please make checks payable to Clackamas ESD. The lab fee for the week will be $800 for all four days.  \nRegistration will be available until June 15\, on a first-come\, first-served basis. Participation will be capped to ensure a valuable experience for all those attending. If registrations are at an insufficient level\, the course may not be held.
